A fluid pumping system for an engine, the system comprising a pump 205, a summing differential 206 connected to the pump, a gearbox 203 connected to the summing differential, where the gearbox causes the pump to rotate to provide a fluid how in the engine via the summing differential; and a motor 201 connected to the summing differential such that the motor adjusts a rotational speed of the pump via the summing differential. Preferably the gearbox transfers power from the engine to the pump via the summing differential and is connected to a first leg of the summing differential, where the motor is connected to a second leg of the summing differential. The motor may reduce or increase the speed of the pump based on a flow meter that measures the fluid flow in the engine. A method of pump speed control is also claimed. |
