PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a valve element capable of pressurized contact against a seal member to improve the sealing performance by devising the form of the cam face of a cam member, in a gate valve in which by rectilinearly moving a cam member by a driving means through a tilting mechanism, a valve rod is rectilinearly moved up to a fixed position, and rectilinear movement is regulated by a regulating means. SOLUTION: When an air cylinder 60 is driven to rectilinearly move a cam member 22 in the direction of closing an opening part, the cam member 22 rectilinearly moves a valve rod 6 under the condition of holding a roller 24 with a holding part 22a. When the valve rod 6 reaches a fixed position, a stopper 18 abuts on the end face 14d of a holding member 14, movement of the valve rod 6 is regulated and a valve element 2 becomes in the condition of closing an opening part 50. When the cam member 22 moves rectilinearly from this condition, the condition of holding the roller 24 with the holding part 22a is released. When the roller 24 rolls on the camface 22b of the cam member, the valve rod 6 tilts to press O-rings 52 provided on the outer circumference of the opening part 50 with the valve element 2, and the opening part 50 is sealed up.
