PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce noises and vibration by setting an approaching contact ratio to be smaller than a receding contact ratio, and forming first grooves communicating with a delivery port, to meet to a minimum confined volume part, while forming second grooves communicating with a suction port, to meet to a contact end point. SOLUTION: In a gear pump provided with a driving gear 1 and a driven gear 2 meshed with each other, a first groove 5 communicating with a delivery port 4, and a second groove 7 communicating with a suction port 6, are formed at side plates arranged at both side faces of both gears 1, 2. In this case, the distance (the length of a starting point side contact line) from a contact starting point O to a pitch point P is so set that an approaching contact ratio is approximately 0.6, while the distance (the length of an end point side contact line) L2 from the pitch point P to a contact end point A4 is so set that a receding contact ratio is approximately 0.75. The first groove 5 is formed to meet to a minimum confined volume part v5, and the second groove 7 is formed to meet to the contact end point A4.
