The disclosure is related to a system and method for patient-staff acknowledgment. The system and method includes activating a receiver of a wireless staff member device to receive a first signal within a threshold distance from a wireless patient device. The receiver being activated for a predetermined activation time, by affecting a switch of the wireless staff member device. Activating a transmitter of the wireless patient member device to transmit the first signal by affecting a switch of the wireless patient device. Transmitting a second signal from a transmitter of the wireless staff member device when the receiver of the wireless staff member device is receiving the first signal within the predetermined activation time. Cancelling an alarm activated by the wireless patient member device when the receiver of the wireless patient device is receiving the second signal from the wireless staff member device.
