Improving the catalytic activity of a copper promoted zeolite catalyst comprises treating a zeolite and/or a zeolite-like compound with a copper salt solution; and calcining the zeolite and/or zeolite-compound under oxidizing conditions, where: the zeolite catalyst promoted with copper in the temperature-programmed reduction (TPR) with hydrogen at a heating rate of 10 K/minute and a hydrogen content in the test gas of 5 vol.% at 230-240[deg] C exhibits a signal and the sample weight is measured in the TPR, such that the sample contains 3-8 mg of copper. An independent claim is included for copper promoted zeolite catalyst obtained by the above process. |
