PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color killer detector capable of stably judging the color killer even when a color burst signal deviates from a regular position. SOLUTION: The color killer detector is provided with n pieces of flip-flop circuits 15-1 to 15-n which makes an outputted signal 11 from a comparator 9 a common data input and makes n pieces of sampling clocks 16-1 to 16-n each of which phase differs by a prescribed amount into a clock input as a judging means, an OR operation circuit 18 corresponding to each data output 17-1 to 17-n of each flip-flop circuit, a burst signal counter 12 to count an outputted signal 19 from the OR operation circuit over a plurality of horizontal position scanning intervals, and a color killer judging circuit 13 to judge that it is a color signal when a counted value 20 by the burst signal counter is more than a specified value and to judge that it is a monochrome signal when counted value is under the specified value.
