PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance injection accuracy of sub injection injected into a cylinder after main injection. SOLUTION: In this exhaust emission control device for an internal combustion engine, fuel of the injection amount eqfinac calculated with a high accuracy injection amount calculating means in step 103 is injected by one sub injection. A sub injection frequency determination means calculates the thinning frequency eqfinan of sub injection in step 108 based on the reduction agent supply amount eqfina calculated with a supply amount calculating means in step 102 and the injection amount eqfinac calculated with the high accuracy injection amount calculating means in step 103. The injection accuracy of the sub injection is enhanced, the sub injection is conducted in the optimum frequency, and the HC supply amount to an exhaust emission control means is appropriately controlled.
