The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for auto-economic driving based on a driver's tendency and, more specifically, to an apparatus and a method for auto-economic driving which automatically change a driving mode suitable to the driver's tendency by considering the driver's tendency. In the present invention, information on acceleration characteristics of a driver is collected when the driver drives a car. The driver's tendency is selected based on the collected data. The driving mode is automatically selected based on the selected driver's tendency so that the driver does not need to change the driving mode as the driving mode automatically changes for the optimum economic driving.
