MOISTURE CONDITIONING BUILDING MATERIAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moisture conditioning building material which is excellent in moisture absorbing/desorbing properties and moisture permeability, free of water absorbing property, and resistant to fouling. SOLUTION: The moisture conditioning building material is a molded body produced by subjecting a material containing calcium carbonate and amorphous silica as main components to carbon curing reaction. The specific surface area of the building material according to the nitrogen gas adsorption method ranges from 80 to 250 m2/g, and the average pore diameter ranges from 1.5 to 30.0 nm. Further, a moisture-permeable water-repellent film is formed at least on one surface of the molded body. Preferably, the moisture-permeable water- repellent film is formed by applying at least one of moisture-permeable water- repellent paints containing a water repellent of a silicone alcoholic solvent or a silane alcoholic solvent and a vegetable oil as main components.
