PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use most efficiently an electricity storing device for charging and discharging a capacitor of comparatively small capacity. SOLUTION: In a hybrid electric vehicle utilizing the electricity-storing device that controls the charge and discharge of an electric double-layer capacitor by a control circuit including a parallel monitor, one of the three traveling modes of constant traveling mode N, acceleration traveling mode P and deceleration traveling mode B is made selectable. In accordance with each traveling mode, charge controlling width for the electricity-storing device is changed between a charge upper limit value U and a charge lower limit value D.
