SUBSTANCE: valve tappets of existing design made by stamping from sheet material do not provide sufficient rigidity and accuracy within preset dimensions. Proposed invention eliminates indicated drawbacks. According to invention, housing of valve tappet of internal combustion engine provided with cylindrical guide surface and wear-resistant layer on tappet base and transfer surface engaging with drive elements is made in form of seamless bushing made of sheet material into which cap with spherical bottom is press-fitted. This cap is part of blank from which bushing is made. Inner surface of cap bottom is transferring one, and outer surface, together with projecting section of bushing, forms socket for wear-resistant layer.
