An electric monorail system is disclosed. The electric monorail system runs along a monorail. The system comprises: a tramcar unit for picking up and transferring items; a main power for operating the tramcar unit; a ground unit outputting speed orders for controlling the running speed of the tramcar unit; a bus bar installed along the monorail for supplying the main power and speed orders from the ground unit to the tramcar unit; and a current collector for collecting the current of the main power and speed orders from the bus bar and supplying to the tramcar unit. The tramcar unit comprises: a running motor; and a tramcar unit control unit which converts the frequency characteristic of the supply voltage being supplied to the running motor, based on the speed orders, and then controls the running speed of the running motor.
