The present invention relates to a rigidity controller for a flexible surgical instrument. The rigidity controller includes a plurality of short links which are connected to a terminal member for an operation to be controlled to selectively have flexibility and rigidity and have a long and slender shape, a linear flexibility control member which connects and supports the short links, and a tension control device for allowing the short links to come in contact with each other or to be separated from each other by adjusting the length of the linear flexibility control member.
