PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a horizontal profile signal generating circuit for a single CCD color camera capable of providing a high-resolution brightness signal at each of achromatic color part and chromatic color part. SOLUTION: There are provided a first horizontal profile signal generating circuit provided after a first horizontal low-pass filter, a second horizontal profile signal generating circuit provided after a second horizontal low-pass filter, and a selecting circuit which adaptively selects for outputting a first horizontal profile signal generated by the first horizontal profile signal generating circuit and a second horizontal profile signal, generated by the second horizontal profile signal generating circuit based on the color saturation information for each prescribed region calculated based on a color-difference signal. Here, the first horizontal low-pas filter comprises such characteristics as a high-frequency component is allowed to pass, with the second low-pass filter comprising no such characteristics.
