PURPOSE: A hydroxybiphenyl derivate is provided to be used as a health functional food for preventing and treating obesity, diabetes, fatty liver, or hyperlipidemia. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating obesity, diabetes, fatty liver, or hyperlipidemia contains a hydroxybiphenyl derivate selected among compounds of chemical formulas 1-3 as an active ingredient. A health functional food for treating obesity, diabetes, fatty liver, or hyperlipidemia contains the hydroxybiphenyl derivate as an active ingredient. The hydroxybiphenyl derivate compound is 2-allyl-p-phenylphenol, 6-allyl-o,o'-biphenyl or 2,2'-diallyl-p,p'-biphenol compound. The compound has an antibacterial effect. |
