A method for manufacturing a phase difference film (52) comprises the steps of (a) providing a substrate (10) having a first surface (101) in which an optical-shielding layer (20) is provided and a second surface (102) in which an orientable layer (30) is provided; (b) irradiating the orientable layer (30) with a first linear polarized UV light (401) and irradiating the orientable layer (30) with a second linear polarized UV light (402) so that the orientable layer (30) can be formed as an alignment layer (32) having first and second regions (301, 302) which are respectively optical-oriented in two different orientation directions; and (c) coating a liquid crystal material (50) on the alignment layer (32) and curing the liquid crystal material (50).
