PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera that can install a shutter to interrupt a reverse incident light from an eyepiece lens without giving hindrance to downsizing and weight reduction of the camera main body. SOLUTION: In the camera, a beam splitter 14 splits an incident light beam from an object into two beams, one of the beams is made incident on a CCD 15 to form the object image on an image pickup face. Furthermore, another incident light beam is guided to an eyepiece lens 3 through a focal plate 16 and a release lens 18 to provide an observation purpose object image to a user. An eyepiece shutter 17 to interrupt a reverse incident light beam from the eyepiece lens 3 is arranged in the vicinity of the release lens 19 where the luminous flux is most narrowed in an optical path from the beam splitter 14 to the eyepiece lens 3 on the basis of a role of inverting the object image to realize downsizing and weight reduction of the eyepiece shutter 17.
