The method involves providing a filter plate with a support (18) and a filter fabric (20) that are arranged in a filter press (10). The filter press is equipped with a washing unit (36). The filter fabric is washed according to a measured parameter related to clogging of the fabric. Pressure inside the washing unit is measured. A flexible fluid supply device (60) is utilized for supplying fluid to the washing unit. A positioning unit is arranged with a laser sensor in the filter press.
