A control device for an alternating current electric vehicle employed in a configuration wherein a static-inverter (7) is connected to an intermediate direct current circuit unit (40) between a converter (3), which converts alternating current voltage, input via a main transformer (2), to a direct current voltage, and an inverter (4), which converts direct current voltage to alternating current voltage, wherein the carrier frequency fc of the converter (3) is changed on the basis of the initial temperature of the converter main circuit elements (the initial Tcnv value) when the vehicle is stopped and on the basis of the input current Isiv of the static-inverter (7), so as to reduce the temperature variation of the converter main circuit elements when the vehicle is stopped. |
