PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contact type image sensor, with which deterioration of optical characteristics caused by heating can be prevented in the case of operating while suppressing the increase of production costs or occurrence of electrostatic damage as little as possible. SOLUTION: A contact type image sensor 1 is provided with a first circuit board 11 equipped with a light source L for illuminating an original, a second circuit board 12 equipped with a photodetecting part S and a rod lens array R for forming an optical image reflected from the original on the photodetecting part S and in this contact type image sensor 1, with which the first circuit board 11 and the second circuit board 12 are installed on a casing 10 for housing and installing this rod lens array R in the state of sandwiching the rod lens array R, the casing 10 is formed from glass fiber reinforced unsaturated polyester resin (thermosetting resin).
