Disclosed is a Wireless-Fidelity (Wi-Fi) device, comprising: a Radio Frequency (RF) circuit, a signal processor, an application processor, and a Wi-Fi chip, wherein the application processor is used to preset the working mode of the Wi-Fi chip to be the Single Input Single Output (SISO) mode, and is also used to get the value of the uplink wireless network parameter, and to set the working mode of the Wi-Fi chip to be the Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) mode when determining that the value of the uplink wireless network parameter is greater than or equal to a preset value. A method for setting the communication mode is also disclosed. By applying the method and Wi-Fi device for setting the communication mode in the embodiment of the present invention, the problem is avoided that opening the MIMO mode would result in larger energy consumption of the device when the uplink wireless network quality is not good. |
