A method for the treatment of dried sludge from a sewage treatment plant in order to prevent or limit the self-heating of same during subsequent storage, according to which the sludge is subjected to controlled oxidation prior to storage such that the temperature of same remains lower than a first threshold of 100°C during this oxidation, and then to cooling to a temperature lower than a second threshold of 40°C.
