The invention relates to a vehicle seat (1) with a built-in air bag module, the seat (1) contains a seat (1) frame and upholstery covering the padded portion of the seat (1) by front, rear and side part thereof, and at least one air bag module is placed in the seat (1), the air bag module contains an inflated air bag (41a,41 b) made of a thick and resilient material, and an air-escape unit (50) is attached to the inflated air bag (41a,41 b), the unit is provided by a membrane (52) adapted to become deformed by pressure and a lancing pin (54) arranged close beside the membrane (52) and adapted to pierce the membrane (52). In a preferred embodiment the shape of the air bag (41a,41 b) is identical with the shape of that part of the seat (1), which contains the air bag (41a,41 b), so that the air bag itself forms a part of the seat (1). |
