The method involves receiving wide band data stream of participant-side terminal (40) within wide-band frequency range. The pre-designated carrier of the wide-band frequency range is modulated. The data bits of wide band data stream are distributed in predefined way on pre-designated carriers. The wide band multi-carrier signal is formed from the modulated carriers. The participant multi-carrier signal is produced from the wide band and narrowband multi-carrier signals. The participant multi-carrier signal is transferred over subscriber line (60) to network-side counter device (70). An independent claim is included for xDSL-capable network device for broad and narrow-band terminal connection.
