The assembly has a balance spring (76) arranged between a latching piston (56) and a valve body (52). A valve piston (58) is arranged within the body. The body has an inlet communicating with an outlet when the valve piston is in a position, and not communicating with the outlet when the valve piston is in another position. A diaphragm spring or latching spring (84) is placed between the latching piston and the valve piston. A holding spring (86) is placed between the valve piston and the body. An unlatching valve mechanism (60) is in communication with an unlatch port (85) of the body. An independent claim is also included for a transmission system for a motor vehicle, comprising a pressure regulator subsystem.
