The method involves providing an optical imaging system (1), setting up the optical system at distance to an object to-be-photographed. An optical system is configured between the optical imaging system and the object such that a line of focus (4a) corresponding to the object is displaced with respect to another line of focus proximity to the optical imaging system. A test pattern is set up in the latter line of focus. The optical imaging system is focused to the test pattern, and the optical system and the test pattern are removed. An independent claim is also included for a traffic monitoring system.
