Disclosed are a handover method and a base station therefor in order to support a handover of a communication terminal from a macrocell or source cell of a femto cell to a femto cell to be connected using the limited number of physical cell identifiers and a cell global identity (CGI) which is unique in a communication network. The handover method for a communication terminal by a source base station in a mobile communication system according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises the following steps of: receiving a measurement report message including a first identifier of a base station to be connected from a communication terminal; checking whether a second identifier of the base station to be connected corresponding to the first identifier exists on a naver list; checking whether the second identifier has a femto indication bit if there is the second identifier; requesting and receiving the second identifier by the communication terminal if there is the femto indication bit; and performing a handover of the communication terminal to the base station to be connected using the received second identifier of the base station to be connected.
