An electrical connector having a contact section capable of holding a flat sheet-like cable and also having a housing for receiving the contact section. The contact section has a first beam capable of being in contact with one face of the cable, a second beam capable of being in contact with the other face of the cable, a connection section extending from the first beam and connected to the second beam, and an extension section extending from the first beam and from the connection section in the direction in which the first beam extends. The housing has an actuator for operating the first beam by pivoting operation. The actuator has a pivot shaft pivoting by the pivoting operation, a movement section moving by the pivoting operation so as to be able to come into contact with the extension section, and an operation section for pivoting the actuator. When the actuator is closed, the movement section comes into contact with the extension section, causing the first beam to approach the second beam. When the actuator is opened, the operation section comes into contact with the extension section, causing the first beam to be separated from the second beam. |
