<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for creating a simulated off condition in a computing device. <P>SOLUTION: This computing device includes system components such as a power supply, processors and fans that are put into low-power states upon receiving signals to power off the device. This poses to users that the computing device is turned off. The system components, however, remain enabled to run applications when the computing device is in the simulated off condition.
