The method involves connecting a control device (14) with a sensor (12) over a cable harness (16), and forming a potential divider by a sensor resistor (18) of the sensor and a load resistor (20) of the control device. Voltage of the potential divider is transferred back to the sensor, and converted into a mirror voltage (30) by an impedance converter (22), where an operational amplifier is utilized as the impedance converter. The mirror voltage is transferred back to the sensor through the cable harness. An analog-to-digital converter (24) is provided in the control device. An independent claim is also included for an arrangement for operating a control device.
