Provided is an advertisement providing method capable of enabling an advertisement application running in the background to download an advertisement and, when a user unlocks the lock screen, displaying an appropriate advertisement among downloaded advertisements on the screen. The advertisement providing method in the advertisement application installed in a smart phone, given in the present invention, includes: an advertisement data storage step for accessing an advertisement server, downloading advertisement data, and storing the data in a memory; and an advertisement display step for reading the advertisement data and displaying the data on a screen when the lock screen is unlocked. According to the present invention, since an advertisement is displayed on the screen whenever a smart phone user uses the unlock function, which is frequently used, a large advertisement exposure effect is expected.
