The center armrest (01) has a stowage box having a bracket portion (11). A lid (21) is connected with the bracket portion by a bearing bolt (04), for defining a pivotal axis such that unwanted tilting back from open position is prevented. The friction function is counteracted by frictional force against pivoting movement with a resilient deformable friction locking element (31). The locking element is cooperated with a detent portion and a web-like friction contour of a friction snap-in configuration and is arranged within a retainer (25) to open the snap-in configuration. An independent claim is included for lid storage for use with center armrest.
