The method involves providing the auction object (2) with a graphical one-dimensional or multi-dimensional transaction-identifier symbol (3), which contains information for unique identification of the auction and for establishing a communications connection with a central auction management system. The information of the transaction-identifier symbol is read in a computer unit. The information of the transaction-identifier symbol is decrypted. A communication connection is installed between the computer unit and the central auction management system, by which a bid is delivered. An independent claim is included for a computer unit with a reading unit.
