<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera and an exposure control method which are capable of reducing a starting time by quickly putting the exposure into a proper state when starting. <P>SOLUTION: The camera includes; an imaging means (an imaging element 4 or the like) for imaging a subject; an exposure change means which comprises at least one of a stop varying part for changing the degree of opening (stop) of an iris 2, a shutter speed varying part for changing a shutter speed, and a gain varying part for varying the degree of amplification of an output of the imaging means and changes an exposure state in the imaging means; an automatic exposure control means for variably controlling a state of the exposure change means on the basis of the output of the imaging means; a passive AF sensor 26 being a distance measurement sensor for measuring a distance to the subject; and a high-speed exposure control means for setting an initial state or a reference state of variable control in the automatic exposure control means on the basis of an output of the passive AF sensor 26. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
