NICKEL-HYDROGEN STORAGE BATTERY AND MANUFACTURING METHOD OF ITS NEGATIVE ELECTRODE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make reduction of oxygen gas smooth at the time of rapid charging without lowering the design capacity of the battery.

SOLUTION: The nickel hydrogen storage battery has a negative electrode in which a mixture layer having a hydrogen storage alloy as an active material is arranged on a conductive substrate, a positive electrode having a nickel hydroxide as an active material, and an electrode group wound in spiral shape with the outermost peripheral part as the negative electrode through a separator, and this electrode group is housed in a bottomed cylindrical container. The surface roughness of the outermost peripheral part mixture layer contacting with the side face inner wall of the bottomed cylindrical container is made 3.5μm or more in ten-point average roughness, and is made larger than the surface roughness of the mixture layer of the negative electrode in other portions.
