PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tape cartridge prevented from slackening a tape.

SOLUTION: The tape cartridge 10 for a hand-held device for analyzing a body fluid has a test tape 30 that can be unwound from a storage unit 20 and wound onto a waste unit 24 where the waste unit 24 can be driven in order to wind forward the test tape 30. An engaging means 28 which keeps the test tape 30 under tension is integrated in the tape cartridge 10 at least on the storage unit 20.
