An assembly (28) for controlling the weight of a glass gob (6) on a glassware molding machine (1) has a punch (10) for at least partly penetrating the gob and controlled by a fluidic linear actuator (11) having an outer sleeve (12) of paramagnetic material, and a piston (15) which slides inside the sleeve (12); the piston (15) being connected integrally to the punch (10); and movement of the piston being controlled by a linear transducer (30) having a movable member (35) fitted to the piston (15), and a fixed member (33) located outside the sleeve (12).
