An apparatus for removing a wall covering e.g. wallpaper, posters, display materials, comprises a steam head adapted to receive steam from a steam generator. The steam head comprises a shell having a sidewall defining a recess forming a steam enclosure; an inlet through which steam may pass into the steam enclosure; and one or more cutting means located within the recess and projecting beyond the sidewall so as to impinge on the surface of the wall covering in use. The cutting means may be scraper blade for removal of the wall covering and/or a scoring means adapted to cut or score the surface of the wall covering allowing the steam to penetrate through the outer layer of a wall covering. In one embodiment the apparatus comprises both a scoring means and a scraper blade. |
