IMAGE SYNTHESIS METHOD AND SURFACE MONITORING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image synthesis method and a surface monitoring device quickly generating a composite image.

SOLUTION: The image synthesis method includes steps of: focusing a phtographing section 2 on reference positions P01, P02of a punch 3 (step S4); moving the focus of the photographing section 2 to positions P11, P12by a distance not larger than a depth of focus of the photographing section 2 based on coordinate data 22 representing a three-dimensional shape of the punch 3 (step S7); respectively photographing surfaces of the punch 3 at the reference positions P01, P02and the moved positions P11, P12by the photographing section 2 (step S5); selecting and cutting image areas G01to G12based on area data 23 representing the image areas G01to G12which are focused in an image 21 phtographed in the phtographing step (step S8); and synthesizing a synthesis image 50 by combining image areas G01to G12(step S9).
