The device has a receiving device (6) receiving mixtures and a drive (20) through which the receiving device can be set in mixing movement relative to a chassis. A bearing (16) includes supports (8, 10, 12) with two bearing areas that are spaced apart from each other, and a joint bearing bears the supports at the chassis. Another joint bearing bears the receiving device at the supports and includes guidance devices (28, 32), which guide rotation of the receiving device relative to the chassis during the mixing movement. An independent claim is also included for a method for mixing contents of laboratory vessels.
