[Class 100 (i)] A switch or deflecting mechanism for diverting products delivered from a printing-machine from one path to another, comprises a deflector formed with a curved peripheral surface cooperating with two guides and movable about an axis so arranged that change of direction is effected by moving the curved surface across the line of approach of the products in a direction towards the guide with which it is to cooperate to provide the changed pathway. The device is used for separating the products into counted batches. In one form, the deflector S, Fig. 2, is shaped as a major segment of a circle pivoted at 1 and forming a pathway with one or the other of two rollers 2, 3, between which the products issue, but it may consist of an eccentrically mounted disc with the pivot 1 adjacent to the operative edge thereof. A Geneva disc 9, Fig. 2, is fixed to the pivot 1 and has a diametral groove 10. At either side of the disc 9 are discs 15, 16 driven continuously by worm-gearing 17, 19 and 18, 20, respectively from a shaft 21. Arms 13, 14, fixed to the discs 15, 16, carry pins 11, 12, which alternately engage the groove 10 to oscillate the disc 9 and deflector S at intervals to direct the sheets to one or other of two paths constituted, for example, by conveyers 5, 6. When one pin leaves the groove 10, the disc 9 and deflector are locked by the engagement of one of the discs 15, 16, with a curved recess 22 in the disc 9 until the other pin is ready to engage the groove. To accelerate the swing over of the deflector from the lower to the-upper position or in both directions the shaft 21 is given an endwise movement at the appropriate time by a cam-operated arm linked to the shaft.
