A self-powered power sensor (SPPS) is coupled around an alternating AC power line connected to a circuit breaker. The SPPS comprises at least one analog section comprising a current transformer configured to mount around the power line Energy is harvested from a secondary winding wound around the transformer core, and stored by capacitor. A microcontroller is coupled to the at least one analog section. A resonance capacitor is coupled in parallel to the secondary winding of the current transformer to resonate with the secondary winding inductance at a primary frequency and low currents. A transmitter is enabled to periodically transmit, under the control of the microcontroller, information respective of the power consumption of the power line upon detelmination that there is sufficient power to perform the transmission. A communication bridge is configured to communicate with at least one SPPS and further coupled to a network to sommunicate with a management server and database. |
