<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To materialize both improvement of thermal efficiency during low load and avoidance of knocking during high load. <P>SOLUTION: In a diesel engine including a piston (9) which reciprocates in a cylinder, a compression ratio variable mechanism which can variably control a compression ratio in response to a drive quantity, a supercharger (21), and a supercharge pressure variable mechanism (36) which can variably control supercharge pressure generated by the supercharger in response to a drive quantity, a part or whole of a wall surface in a combustion chamber is formed of nonmetallic material having high heat insulation and heat accumulation effects. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
