A backlight assembly and a display device having the backlight assembly are provided to attach a thermal conductive tape to a mold frame arranged above the backlight assembly to disperse light transferred from a lamp to a display panel and to minimize a temperature difference between the edge and the center of the display panel. A backlight assembly(600) includes a receiving container(100), a lamp unit(200), a light guide plate(300), a mold frame(500), and a thermal conductive tape. The receiving container has a bottom(110) and a side(120). The lamp unit includes a lamp(210) which is placed in the receiving container and emits light and a lamp cover(220) for covering the lamp. The light guide plate guides light emitted from the lamp and projects the light. One side of the light guide plate faces the lamp. The thermal conductive tape is extended in a direction perpendicular to the length of the lamp and attached to one side of the mold frame. |
