#CMT# #/CMT# The rod (2) has an elongated medullary part (4) engaged in a medullary cavity of a femur and including traversing transversal holes (5a, 5b) which house a femur traversing screw. A prosthetic femoral neck forming part (3) with a prosthetic femoral head, is projected from the femur. The part (4) has a covering region (8), covered with a coating to ensure the regrowth of a bone, at the level of its proximal end, where the region is extended on the periphery of the part. The coating is made of resorbable material e.g. tricalcium phosphate and hydroxyapatite. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Prosthetic femoral rod for being fixed to a femur of a patient, during hip plastic surgery. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The covering region is covered with the coating for ensuring the regrowth of the bone, thus ensuring sealing bone joint at the level of the rod's proximal part to prevent the migration of usury particles in the cavity, and hence avoiding any osteolysis risk at the level of the cavity. The holes permit to ensure solid fixation of the rod in the femur, without requiring precise adjustment between the cavity and the rod, thus ensuring the gap between the femur and the rod, and hence ensuring easy withdrawal of the rod from outside of the femur. The construction of the rod permits the femur to be adhered on its surface, thus ensuring durable and rigid connection between the rod and the femur. The arrangement of the holes permits to avoid injuries of nerves or blood vessels during fixation of the rod in the femur. The construction of the rod permits to eliminate the need of preparation of the cavity using a reamer or a rasp, for adjusting the geometry and size of the rod, thus facilitating surgical gesture of patients having bad mechanical quality femur. The rod is simple in structure. #CMT#DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS : #/CMT# The drawing shows a front view of a prosthetic femoral rod. 2 : Prosthetic femoral rod 3 : Prosthetic femoral neck forming part 4 : Elongated medullary part 5a, 5b : Traversing transversal holes 8 : Covering region #CMT#METALLURGY : #/CMT# The prosthetic femoral rod is made of osteo-conducting metal i.e. titanium alloy. |
