Fitting for windows or doors

The fitting (1) has a coupling arrangement (10) provided between a handle (6) and a polygon (8) i.e. square pin, for transferring torque from the handle to the polygon. The length (L) of a polygon section (8a) in the polygon is automatically adjustable during attaching of stop body (4) at a window or at a door. The polygon section is insertable into a window frame or a door frame and projects over the stop body. The polygon is guided into the coupling arrangement in a longitudinally movable and torque-proof manner and extends through the coupling arrangement into the handle.
