The invention relates to a welding sleeve (12) which is suitable for welding at least two plastic pipes (10, 11) or compound pipes together using a tubular sleeve body which covers the plastic pipes to be connected, and a heating device (16) for heating at least sections of contact surfaces on the inner periphery of the sleeve body and/or on the outer periphery of the plastic pipes to establish a welded bond in the area of the contact surfaces, the heating coil sleeve comprising at least one annular reinforcing element. The invention is characterized in that the sleeve body (12) comprises a composite structure of at least three plastic layers (13, 14, 15), at least one layer (14) thereof being a reinforcing layer, said layer comprising at least one thermoplastic reinforcing strip (22, 23) that is oriented in at least one direction in space, said reinforcing strip being wound onto a plastic cylindrical support (13) of the heating coil sleeve. The welding sleeve according to the invention allows a sleeve connection of two pipes which withstands higher working pressures with respect to the medium flowing through the pipes than sleeves of the same wall thickness. |
