<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a long fiber-reinforced thermoplastic resin pellet with such advantages that the dispersibility of a bundle of reinforcing fibers of an injection-molded object is excellent, the appearance of the injection-molded object is presentable and the reinforcement effect is sufficiently exhibited to meet the required mechanical strength of the injection-molded object, and a manufacturing method of the long fiber-reinforced thermoplastic resin pellet. <P>SOLUTION: This long fiber-reinforced thermoplastic resin pellet is manufactured in the following process steps: (1) the bundle of the continuous length reinforcing fibers 2 is impregnated with a melt thermoplastic resin 3, (2) concurrently, the bundle of the resin-impregnated reinforcing fibers 2 is taken up while being twisted, and (3) a bar-like composition 4 consisting of the bundle of the resin-impregnated twisted reinforcing fibers 2, is cut and pelletized. In this long fiber-reinforced thermoplastic resin pellet, the degree of volume packing V<SB>f</SB>which is the ratio of sectional area of the reinforcing fiber bundle packed in the sectional area of the pellet section in a perpendicular direction with the longitudinal direction of the pellet, is within the range of 70 to 20%. In addition, the twist pitch P of the pellet represented by P=L/d (L: the length of the twist proceeding in the longitudinal direction of the bar-like composition per one rotation of the bar-like composition, d: the substantial circular dia. of the sectional area of the bar-like composition), is within the range of 2.5 to 36 (m/rev×m). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
