The system (1) has microphones (4) e.g. free sound microphone, for arrangement in a monitored area (2) and recording of audio signals of an object i.e. unauthorized person, in the monitored area. A location module (6) locates a position of the object by acoustic detection of the position of the object. An analysis module (5) classifies the audio signal and outputs classification information. The analysis module classifies the audio signal as unintended noise such as break-down noise and/or damage noise and/or as interference noise of an action. An independent claim is also included for a method for monitoring a monitored area.
