An apparatus for preventing a ship from colliding with whales or rocks and a method therefor are provided to minimize damage to the ship during voyage by having a sub ship in front of the ship to avoid collisions with objects on the sea. An apparatus for preventing a ship(1) from colliding with whales or rocks includes a sub ship(2) and a rope(3). The sub ship is connected to the ship through the rope, floats in front of the ship, collides with the whales or the rocks before the ship collides, and generates ultrasonic waves or bad smells for the whales or other marine life to avoid collision with the ship. The rope connects the ship and the sub ship, supplies the sub ship with power to generate the ultrasonic waves or the bad smells, and is separated from the ship to prevent the collision with the ship.
